Pirkka chicken products are easy and enjoyable to cook - and there are plenty of cuisines, recipes and spices that provide delicious food from chicken meat to your everyday and festive meals.
Find here a few tips how to use or prepare the different types of Pirkka chicken products: wings, strips, fillet steaks, drumsticks. Meat parts vary a bit from each other regarding their preparation times or the tastiest dish to prepare from it.

A popular finger food is created by cooking chicken wings in the oven, grill or airfryer. In the oven: On a baking sheet covered with baking paper 225 °C for about 25 min, until the meat is cooked. On the grill: On medium heat for about 25 min. Turn frequently during grilling. Airfryer: 190 °C about 20 min. Turn after half the time.
You find two variants of Pirkka chicken wings - pre-seasoned 700g with smoked paprika-chili flavour, or lightly salted 700g which you can try out with different seasonings!
Serve wings with vegetable sticks and various dips.

Chicken legs are an inexpensive everyday food. They are fatter than fillets, and with bone, their meat is fleshy and tasty. Legs are most conveniently prepared in the oven, and well suited to stews. Warm oven to 175 °C, and cook legs for about 1 hour. In airfryer, temperature 180 °C for roughly 45 min will cook the juiciest legs.
Delicious pulled chicken is prepared from chicken legs, very easy to cook in a pan on the stove for 30min with water and your choice of spices. Drumsticks require shorter frying time, as they contain less meat than a leg: add oil in airfryer if preparing breaded or natural drumsticks. Pre-marinated drumsticks have absorbed taste from the sauce longer, and do not need added oil.
Pirkka chicken legs can be found both as natural 3pcs 1,1kg or as pre-marinated 3pcs 1,2kg.
A boneless and skinless piece of femur is called a cutlet. Chicken cutlet is fatter than fillet and is made juicy in the oven, grill or pan. The cutlet is also used to make strips, which are suitable for sauces and soups.
Pirkka cutlets are available with Mediterranean flavor 350g, honey BBQ 350g, and unseasoned 300g.

The leanest and most tender part is chicken breast fillet, which is also used to make many kinds of thin steaks and strips. Cook the breast fillets with a help of a frying meter. The meat is at its juiciest when the meter shows 75 degrees. For oven: warm the oven to 200 °C, and fry 45min until fillet is ready.
Pirkka chicken breast fillet and fillet steaks come in natural schnitzels 340g, lightly salted 4-6pcs 600g, and honey-marinated 420g. Fillet steaks are available natural 350g, lightly salted 520g, honey-marinated 520g. There is also Pirkka turkey fillet 6pcs 600g

Breast cutlet consists of bone and skinned breast fillet. Breast cutlets are usually cooked in the oven. Rub a mixture of spices or butter before cooking, which will make the meat especially tasty. Cook in oven 200 °C for roughly 40min, grill or prepare in airfryer at temperature 170 ºC for 45-50 min.
Pirkka breast cutlets are available lightly salted 3-4pcs appr 900g, or seasoned 1,1kg - chicken is dry-rubbed with flavourings (wine vinegar, meat, paprika, basil, tarragon, oregano), sugar, spices (paprika, parsley, green pepper, black pepper, garlic, coriander, turmeric, cumin, ginger, ginger, cayenne, allspice, cloves), plant fibre (pea, psyllium), maize maltodextrin.

The most tender part is chicken breast fillet, which is also used to make many kinds of strips, cubes or slices. The small pieces are quick to fry in a frying pan, or in an airfryer (180-200 °C for 8-10 min). Try pre-marinated - the favourite taste for Finnish families is honey-marinade. This is followed closely by naturel or lightly salted - to allow trying out different spices or sauces. Pieces are especially useful for stuffing of tacos and enchiladas.
Pirkka chicken fillet pieces can be found for different needs: salted strips 250g and 450g, strips in honey marinade 450g, salted slices 300g, and cubes 350g.
When you want to cook chicken a little better, try chicken tenderloin. Quick-cooking, tender and low-fat tenderloin cooks best in a pan or grill, or in air-fryer. Fry the fillets in a splash of oil in a frying pan for about 15 minutes.
Use ready-made breading or bread the tenderloin yourself in order to prepare crispy bites. Breading preserves the moisture in this low-fat chicken part and makes especially tasty finger food, or tex mex stuffing. In air fryer, the tenderloin is prepared in 200 °C for 8-10 min. Add 1 tablespoon of oil on the surface before frying, stir 1-2 times during frying.
Pirkka chicken tenderloin is available in 300g pieces, 300g tenderloin with corn breading, and salted 500g.

Pirkka chicken products are all of Finnish origin, from Finnish producers HK Scan Finland Oy, Atria Oyj and Naapurin maalaiskana Oy. All Pirkka chicken products have been awarded Hyvää Suomesta (Produce of Finland) label, which tells about Finnish raw materials and work.

Chicken is grown free from antibiotics, in Finnish farms, where environment and wellbeing of chicken is important. E.g. Naapurin maalaiskana farms are from Varsinais-Suomi and Satakunta regions, and the journey from farm to factory is just 60km - shorter trip causes less anxiety to the animal.
Pirkka chicken products are a healthy choice among meat products. All chicken products have Sydänmerkki (The Heart Symbol) as indicator of a healthier choice. The Heart Symbol tells the consumer at a glance that the product marked with this symbol is a better choice in its product group regarding fat (quantity and quality) and salt. (In some product groups, also sugar and fibre contents are taken into account.)
The criteria for the symbol are based on the Finnish nutrition recommendations. In all, the criteria are defined for nine main food groups that may further be divided into subgroup. The criteria are regularly updated, if needed, by the Heart Symbol expert group, which includes eight professionals in nutrition and medicine appointed by the organisations in charge, i.e. Finnish Heart Association (FHA) and Finnish Diabetes Association (FDA).

Each Pirkka package contains recycling instructions. All Pirkka chicken products are packaged to plastic packages. The box is of recyclable plastic, and lid is also. Look for the recycling symbol on the plastic item, which is usually a triangle made of arrows with a number inside. This number indicates the type of plastic. Common types of plastic include PET (1), HDPE (2), PVC (3), LDPE (4), PP (5), PS (6), and others (7).

Recycling plastic at home is a great way to reduce waste and help the environment. The most efficient way to recycle is to sort the waste: if box and lid are of different plastic, separate the parts from each other. Do not stack all plastic to recycling bin, but leave them loose. Very dirty packages, such as those of marinated Pirkka chicken packages, are best to be rinsed prior to recycling.
Plastic recycling can be found widely in Finland: in separate recycling lots in cities, and in municipalities. Our K retailers provide often Rinki-recycling service point. In many neighborhoods, there are separate recycling lots, and these days also apartment buildings and even smaller houses have their own plastic recycling bins to collect the plastic packaging to re-use.
